The search continues for a 1-year-old Alabama boy who was reported missing after his sister and father died earlier this month.
Residents told WTTO that investigators searched Kahleb Collins’ home before Christmas. Collins was reported missing on December 9, a day after his father and sister were killed in a car wreck in Fayette County that left his mother hospitalized with serious injuries.
Residents claimed they rarely saw Collins, who his father claimed had medical issues. The neighbors also said they were told the toddler went to live with family members, but it is unclear who relayed that information to them.

An investigation determined Collins was not in the December 8 crash and had vanished on September 4. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the toddler’s parents were not wearing seatbelts, and their daughter was not in a car seat. They also determined the father was driving 92 mph when he veered off the road and struck a tree — leading him to be ejected from the vehicle.
Days after the deadly wreck, Collins’ grandfather, John Bailey, 50, was arrested for failing to report Kahleb Collins’ disappearance. According to WTTO, authorities believe Collins was somehow injured and moved from his family home.
Collins’ whereabouts remain a mystery, including whether his case is being treated as a homicide. Meanwhile, Bailey remains jailed on $100,000 bail.
