A 12-year-old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert over the weekend was found dead in an icy pond.
Virginia Beach Police said Juan Sebastian Mejia Acevedo was in eight feet of water with ice 3 inches thick, WIFR reported. They did not say how they think the boy ended up in the pond.
He had been at a friend’s home, but never made it home.

Virginia State Police have issued an Amber Alert for a 12-year-old boy believed to have been abducted in Virginia Beach.
Juan Sebastian Mejia Acevedo is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and 105 pound with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red hoodie, blue pants, and black shoes.

Acevedo is believed to be in “extreme danger” and was believed abducted by an “unknown person” at about 9 a.m. on Friday, state police said.
