An Idaho man was arrested last week for allegedly ringing up expensive items as tomato soup at Walmart’s self-checkout kiosk.
On February 2, Dylan Rockwell, 32, reportedly tried to pass off a $300 grill as a can of tomato soup. Caldwell police said Rockwell confessed to wearing a ring with a tomato soup barcode and scanning it while taking larger, more expensive items.
Rockwell was arrested and charged with felony burglary. Police said they recovered the stolen items without incident.
“Sorry Mr. Rockwell, your tactics didn’t work this time but we appreciate your creativity,” Caldwell police chief Rex Ingram said. “We know that times are tough but your ingenuity got you some county soup for dinner.”
