Alabama Teacher Arrested for Having Sexual Relationship With Student

An Alabama school teacher has been arrested for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Rodrique Peyton Ramzy Jr., 28, was arrested on Saturday by Tuscaloosa County deputies, the Tuscaloosa Thread reported. Ramzy was charged with econd-degree rape, second-degree sodomy, and having a sexual relationship with a student while employed by a school.

Tuscaloosa County Schools superintendent Dr. Keri  Johnson said in an email to on Sunday that Ramzy had been placed on administrative leave and was barred from the school campus, WBMA reported.

The Tuscaloosa County School System has high expectations for all faculty and staff. We expect our employees to conduct themselves professionally and with honor,” Johnson said. “Please know that TCSS takes all reports of wrongdoing – whether by staff or students – seriously. TCSS cooperates with law enforcement and works to ensure all matters are appropriately resolved. The safety and well-being of students is our number one priority, at all times.”

The Thread said that Ramzy has been released on a $15,000 bond.
