Kentucky Couple Charged After 3-Year-Old Boy Brought to Hospital With Severe Burns

A Kentucky couple was arrested this week after a 3-year-old boy was brought to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville with severe burns to his hands and foreams.

According to WDRB, medical staff told investigators the child’s burns were consistent with being submerged in hot liquid, and the child told detectives that “Jacob did this to my hands.”

Jacob Snead, 25, and the boy’s mother, 24-year-old Breanna Lair, were both charged with criminal abuse of a child 12 or younger, with Snead given an additional charge of assault.

Lair and Snead are in a relationship, and Lair told investigators she left the boy alone with Snead for about an hour on Sunday, despite being ordered not to do so by Child Protective Services, which is investigating him for criminal abuse involving the same child.

The mother said she waited for three hours before seeking medical attention for the boy and then lied to medical staff about how he was injured, police said.

WDRB reported that Lair is a teaching assistant at a Jefferson County elementary school, but her current employment status wasn’t clear.

The child’s current condition was not revealed.
