Missouri police arrested a man last week after he was allegedly caught in a child’s bedroom.
Before responding to reports of a burglary on Wednesday, Lee’s Summit police learned that suspect Robert McDowell III was being detained at the residence. A woman in the home heard a noise and alerted her husband, who discovered McDowell in their 9-year-old daughter’s bedroom, according to KCTV.
The father reportedly found McDowell standing in front of the girl’s bunk bed with his hand on the bed. The father grabbed McDowell and struck him several times while his wife called 911, according to KCTV.
Once police arrived, McDowell allegedly claimed he used methamphetamine the prior weekend and was unaware of where he was. WDAF reported, however, that McDowell broke into the home to molest the 9-year-old girl.
A day after the incident, a search of McDowell’s phone reportedly yielded at least six images depicting child pornography.
McDowell was charged with first-degree burglary and possession of child pornography. His bond was set at $80,000.
