Police in upstate New York are looking for a 28-year-old man accused of stabbing a woman Sunday afternoon and then fleeing, prompting a shelter in place order overnight.
Jacob Sawyer is still at large, but the shelter in place orde was lifted Monday morning, but several businesses and school in the area were closed Monday morning as a precaution, WCAX reported.
Sawyer’s victim was hospitalized in stable condition after the mid-afternoon attack, according to Ticonderoga Police.
A warrant for Sawyer’s arrest charges him with attempted murder, burglary, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Dogs were searching for the suspect Monday afternoon, but he has still not been located. Police said they had no reason to believe anyone but Sawyer’s victim was at risk. They did not explain the relationship between Swayer and his victim.
Sawyer is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 pounds with brown hair and eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ticonderoga police at 518-585-3456.
