Colorado Man, 36, Arrested for Assaulting His Teenage Wife

A 36-year-old Colorado man was arrested last week for assaulting his 18-year-old wife, although Pueblo County sheriff’s deputies had a wait a day to take him into custody until they could secure a warrant.

Taggart Reike refused to answer the door or come out of the home on Thursday when deputies arrived at his home on a call for a family disturbance, KKTV reported. They found the teen outside with visible injuries, and she told them her husband had assaulted her.

She was taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries and later released.

Reike was charged with assault, harassment, reckless endangerment, and domestic violence. It wasn’t the first time he’d kept deputies at bay — he engaged in a standoff in 2020, the sheriff’s office said.

According to KRDO, Reike was ordered held on a $50,000 bond. They did not say if his teenage bride was safe.
