On Tuesday, Oklahoma police arrested a woman whose 3-year-old daughter reportedly died of a drug overdose last year.
According to KOKI, Khearston Brown’s daughter died after Tulsa police found her unresponsive at their home in May 2024. Not only did items taken from the room reportedly test positive for cocaine and fentanyl, but the medical examiner concluded the same drugs killed Brown’s child.
The medical examiner’s report was completed on January 7, and Brown was formally charged on April 17.
Investigators alleged that Brown had six children since 2011 — and five of them tested positive for drugs. The Department of Human Services took away Brown’s twins, who she had in 2023, because they were born with cocaine and fentanyl in their system, according to KOTV.
Brown is charged with child neglect in regard to her daughter’s death. She faces life in prison if convicted.
