On-Again, Off-Again Boyfriend ‘Pranks’ Woman With Knife Attack to ‘Lighten the Mood’

A 25-year-old South Carolina man said it was just a “prank” when he hid in his on-again, off-again girlfriend’s shower with no pants or underwear and and attacked her with a knife.

Jackson Collum Arnold said it was just a surprise to “lighten the mood” since they had been arguing during the day via text messages, WCBD reported.

According to the incident report from the Charleston Police Department, Arnold broke into detached garage apartment where the victim lived and waited in the bathroom with a pair of her bike shorts over his face. She told police that he came out with a knife held up, and she pushed him away in fear. But he pushed her toward a door and moved the knife across her neck without contact with her skin.

Then, she said, he threw the knife on the floor and choked her with one hand.

“The victim was able to remove the shorts from the unknown man’s face; it was at that time she realized it was her ex-boyfriend, Jackson Arnold,” the police report said.

Arnold told his victim he was just pranking her and wanted to talk, but she ran out of the apartment into the main house, where she had a family member call 911.

Arnold was arrested and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, first-degree burglary, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Jail records say he’s being held without bond pending an initial court appearance on June 13.
