Two men charged with murder in the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans — who died of drug overdoses — will stand trial, a judge ruled on Thursday.
Jordan Willis and Ivory Carson appeared before the judge on Thursday for a preliminary hearing, KCTV reported.
The two men are charged with supplying the drugs that killed Ricky Johnson, 38; David Harrington, 37; and Clayton McGeeney, 36, as CrimeOnline reported. The three men were found dead in Willis’ backyard on January 9, 2024, after they had gathered at the home to watch a football game.
Autopsies determined that they “all died of fentanyl and cocaine combined toxicity,” court records showed.
Willis told investigators that the men came over to watch the football game on January 7 and that they were drinking and smoking marijuana during the game. At some point, he said, he thought they left, but apparently, they had gone into the backyard of the home, where they died.
Willis and Carson have pleaded not guilty.
Willis was released earlier on bond, while Carson remains behind bars.
