FOUND SAFE: Colorado Teen Seen Forced in Pickup Truck

Update: A 16-year-old girl seen being forced into a pickup truck Monday night has been found safe and a suspect is in custody.

While the Colorado Bureau of Investigation previously said that two men were seen abducting the girl, the Boulder Police Department said only that one man had threatened her, forced her into the truck, and left the scene.

An Amber Alert was issued, and the girl was found safe Tuesday morning in Thornton.

The suspect, 19-year-old Juan Manuel Bretado-Lopez, was brought back to Boulder and is being questioned.

“We’re so thankful this young woman was found safe and unharmed after we received such a scary call initially,” Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn said. “Our officers and detectives worked tirelessly all night following up on every lead, from interviewing witnesses to using Flock cameras to determine where this suspect could be.”
The teen an her family told police that they did not wish to speak with media.

Authorities in Colorado have issued an Amber Alert for a 16-year-old girl last seen being forced into a pickup truck in Boulder.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation said it had identified one of the two men seen forcing Jasmin Zapata into the grey, Chevy Silverado at about 8 p.m. Monday night.

Zapata is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. She was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

One suspect is named as Juan Bretado, 19. H is 5 feet 8 inches tall with brown eyes and black hair.

The Silverado has a lime green “Timpano” sticker in the bottom left rear windshield and Colorado tags AXW-L52.
