Bryan Kohberger Whines About Fruit at Max-Security Prison

University of Idaho killer Bryan Kohberger is reportedly unhappy about the quality of food at the maximum-security prison where he is serving a life sentence.

Retired homicide detective Chris McDonough told NewsNation that Kohberger is unhappy with the bananas being served at Idaho Maximum Security Institution. McDonough claimed Kohberger told prison staff that he did not like the kind of bananas he was being given there.

“I don’t know if he really understands that being a resident [inmate] where he is at, you don’t get to pick and choose what you eat and how you eat it,” McDonough told NewsNation.

To avoid the death penalty, Kohberger, 30, admitted to fatally stabbing Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves on November 13, 2022, at the women’s off-campus home in Moscow. The plea deal meant Kohberger will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole. He also waived his right to appeal.

According to NewsNation, Kohberger is housed in long-term restrictive housing at the prison. He reportedly lives in a single-person cell and is given an hour of outdoor recreation a day.

McDonough told the news outlet that Kohberger is having a tough time behind bars, as staff see how “relentless” inmates are towards him. Staff are reportedly conflicted because moving him to general population would only make him a bigger target.

McDonough said, “My source tells me he entered that prison with this idea: ‘I’m Brian Kohberger. I just killed four people, so therefore I’m one of you,’ and that’s not how it’s playing out at all, and they resent him for it.”
