An Ohio man was arrested earlier this month after he “unknowingly” sent a baggie of methamphetamine through his bank’s drive-through pneumatic tube.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a bank in Woodsfield after a teller found the plastic baggie with a “crystal like substance consistent with methamphetamine” inside.
After an investigation revealed that the substance was, in fact, meth, police tracked down the customer, identified as 46-year-old Jason G. Smith, and took him into custody.

“Illegal drugs don’t belong in bank drive-thrus — but they can be turned in at the Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Derek Norman. “No charges, no handcuffs, just help. We’d much rather safely take them off the street than see another unexpected ‘deposit.’”
