Search Ramps Up for Missing College Student Who Vanished Near Woods

New Jersey police have intensified their search for a man who has been missing since late last month.

Jersey Shore Online reported that another search for Rutgers student Morty Wortman, 22, was conducted at the Collier Mills Wildlife Management Area. Wortman was last seen near the 12,000-acre preserve on November 21, when surveillance cameras filmed him getting into a friend’s car at the Regional Day School in Jackson.

Wortman’s vehicle was discovered at the school, though he remains unaccounted for.

According to Jersey Shore Online, police have expanded their search for Wortman, who is considered endangered. Multiple agencies are involved in the ongoing investigation, including state police and prosecutors.

The friend Wortman was last seen with has not been publicly identified. However, Wortman’s brother told News12 that the friend is not cooperating in the ongoing investigation.

Wortman was described as standing 5-feet and 10 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, and having dark brown hair and brown eyes. He has a nose piercing and several earrings in both ears. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, burgundy hoodie, and blue jeans.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should call Jackson police at 732-928-1111 and press “0” to speak with a dispatcher.
