A homicide investigation is underway after police discovered a body inside a car Thursday, formally identified as Frezja Baker, a North Carolina woman who vanished a week earlier.
Charlotte Mecklenburg police confirmed that Baker, 31, was the woman found deceased in a vehicle behind an abandoned church in Charlotte. Baker vanished on December 4, after she left a Quick N E-Z Food Mart located a mile and a half from where she was later found dead, according to WBTV.
Baker’s brother told the news outlet that she dropped off her 2-year-old son at their grandparents’ house. Later that evening, she reportedly called her brother and said she was an hour away — though she never arrived.
WSOC-TV reported that Baker’s death is being investigated as a homicide. Police have not announced any arrests, and Baker’s cause of death remains undisclosed.
