A court hearing was postponed on Tuesday as son Nick Reiner — who is accused of killing Rob and Michelle Reiner — has not been medically cleared.
According to The New York Times, Nick Reiner’s attorney, Alan Jackson, stated that his client was not cleared to be transferred from jail to the Los Angeles County Courthouse, although he did not provide specifics.
Nick Reiner, 32, remains jailed as the case will be presented to prosecutors on Tuesday, police said. Nick Reiner is accused of killing Rob and Michelle Reiner, 78 and 68, who were reportedly found with stab wounds at their Brentwood home on Sunday.
Reports indicated that one of the victims’ daughters discovered their bodies.
Family friends told The Los Angeles Times that Nick Reiner was staying in a guesthouse on his parents’ property. They also claimed that Michelle Reiner grew increasingly concerned about her son’s mental health in the weeks leading up to her murder.
Hours before the slaying, Nick Reiner allegedly got into an argument with his parents at a Christmas party held by comedian Conan O’Brien.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman and Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell are expected to hold a press conference on Tuesday regarding the ongoing investigation.
