Indictment: Ohio Woman Tried to Drown Kids in Bathtub, Beat Them With Belts

An Ohio woman has been indicted on child abuse charges stemming over four years.

An indictment says that 37-year-old Anjelicia Stewart abused three children from 2021 to 2025, including trying to drown them in the bathtub while screaming “I’m going to kill you.”

The indictment also says that she beat the children with belts and a metal dog clasp and choke them into unconsciousness, WXIX reported. At least one time, a child stopped breathing and was resuscitated by another child.

Stewart is not in custody, and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.

Officials have not characterized the relationship between Stewart and the children, ages 14, 8, and 2, except to say they were in her care, according to WLWT.

Stewart is facing four counts of attempted murder, five counts of felonious assault, eight counts of endangering children, and one count of gross sexual imposition.
