Atlanta Police Officer, Woman Found Shot to Death in Home

An Atlanta police officer and a woman were found dead Saturday in a home in one of the city’s central residential neighborhoods.

Police identified the pair as 56-year-old Kevin Stroner and 44-year-old Moriah Cardona, WXIA reported.

Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Prenzinna Spann said friends who had been unable to contact the pair requested a welfare check at the home in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood at about at about 4 p.m. on Saturday. They found Stroner and Cardona dead inside.

They were suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said there was no apparent threat to the community, however.

Police did not say how long Stoner had been an Atlanta officer, but he appears in an report on an incident in 2012 on the department’s Facebook page.

Further information will be released when it is available.
