Kentucky Man Guns Down Son During ‘Altercation’ in His Mother’s Backyard

A Kentucky man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his 33-year-old son during “a heated altercation” Tuesday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police said they were called to a residence and found Jordan Hadley seriously injured. He was taken to TJ Sampson Hospital in Glasgow, where he was pronounced dead.

A preliminary altercation revealed that Hadley was involved in some kind of argument with 56-year-old Phillip Bruce Hadley, who “drew a handgun from his waist and discharged it, striking Jordan and causing fatal injuries,” KSP said.

Hadley told police that the conflict with his son was a long-term disagreement, WBKO reported. He said that Jordan Hadley shoved him several times in the course of Tuesday’s version of the argument and told him, “This is going to end today.” Phillip Hadley said that after his son shoved him, he believed he was reaching for a handgun, so he took out his own and fired. He said he never actually saw a weapon, just believed there was one.

Police did not say if a second weapon was found.

Court documents say Phillip Hadley’s mother witnessed the murder, which took place in her backyard.

Hadley has been charged with murder and is being held without bond.
