Teen Boys, Ages 15 and 17, Filmed Themselves Raping Girl in Walgreens’ Bathroom

Two Illinois boys are facing criminal charges for raping a girl in a public bathroom on Sunday in an attack that they allegedly filmed.

The Chicago Tribune reported that James Patterson, 17, and a 15-year-old boy followed a girl into a restroom at a Naperville Walgreens. There, Patterson allegedly pinned the girl against a bathroom stall before pulling her pants down and sexually assaulting her.

Patterson was also accused of pummeling the victim, who tried to pull her pants back up while telling them to stop. DuPage County prosecutors said the younger suspect filmed the sexual assault before participating in it.

After the incident, the two teens allegedly fled the store, and the girl alerted staff. Police apprehended the pair shortly thereafter — and Patterson was found in possession of the victim’s cellphone, reports indicated.

Patterson is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and robbery, while the other boy is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, child sexual abuse material, and criminal sexual assault.

Patterson’s name is being reported as he is being charged as an adult. The 15-year-old suspect remains held at a juvenile detention center, suggesting he has not or will not be prosecuted as an adult.

Patterson is due in court on February 2. The other teen has a court date scheduled for January 27.
