A Florida man stabbed his former mental health counselor to death Monday night and wounded another client she was in session with when the killer barged in.
Orange County deputies said they found the suspect, 39-year-old Michael Smith, dead from suicide just before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, WESH reported.
Deputies said Smith interrupted his former counselor, 44-year-old Rebecca White, who was with another client Monday night, demanding to speak with her. She told him to leave, while her client said he was calling 911. At that point, deputies said, Smith pulled out a knife and attacked.
Police arrived on the scene just after 9 p.m. and found White with “significant injuries.” She was rushed to a hospital but did not survive. Her client remains in critical condition but is expected to survive after emergency surgery.
