A South Carolin man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting his 14-year-old stepdaughter, while the girl’s mother “had full knowledge” of years of sexual abuse.
Andrew Joseph Martin, 38, has been charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, while Misty Danielle Norris, 35, faces charges of accessory and unlawful neglect of a child. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office also says that “more charges are pending” for Martin.
The sheriff’s office said it began its investigation last month, responding to the Martin-Norris home and identifying “a young girl asking for help from law enforcement.” They did not say what brought them to the home in the first place.
“Evidence shows Martin sexually abused the girl for years and pressured her to keep quiet about the disturbing sexual abuse,” the department said.
Norris reportedly “admitted she knew about the vulgar acts between Martin and the victim.”
Martin is currently behind bars in neighboring Oconee County, where he was arrested on January 2 on a bench warrant from 2017 for Westminster, jail records show.
