A South Carolina woman remains missing more than four years after she reportedly vanished under concerning circumstances.
Alexis Ware was 29 when she was last seen at a 7-Eleven gas station in Anderson County on January 22, 2022. Her car was found days later in a wooded area in McCormick County, according to Greenville Online.
Investigators searched the wooded area and found nothing suspicious. A tip led McCormick County police to Hickory Nob State Park with bloodhounds, but that search also failed to uncover any leads.
Ware’s mother told WHNS that during one of her last conversations with Ware, she said someone in a black truck had been following her.
The father of Ware’s son allegedly told Ware’s mother that she had dropped off her two kids and driven away from the gas station. Officials said the father was considered a person of interest at one point because he was the last person to see Ware, but he was eliminated as a suspect for several undisclosed reasons.
Ware, who is currently 33, was described as standing between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing between 215 and 230 pounds, and having brown hair and brown eyes. A description of her clothing was not provided.
Anyone with information regarding Ware’s whereabouts should call the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office at 864-260-4405.
Alexis Ware’s case is being covered as part of Crime Online’s “Finding the Lost: Black and Missing” series, which will feature a missing Black person every day in February. The full series can be read here.
