The search continues for a man who vanished from a South Carolina trail in 2024.
Zelig Williams, 29, was last seen on the Palmetto Trail in Richland County on October 3, 2024. WACH reported that a December 2024 search conducted at Congaree National Park turned up no sign of Williams, whose car was found on the trail a day after his disappearance.
Williams’ family claimed that, on the morning he went missing, they got an SOS ping from Williams’ phone from one of his friends in New York. The alert indicated a crash had occurred, but police said his car had no evidence of being in an accident.
Shortly before Williams vanished, he returned home after performing on Broadway. He was also slated to teach a dance class the month he disappeared.
It is unclear whether foul play is suspected in Williams’ disappearance.
Williams was reportedly last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and brown slides. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at 803-576-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.
Zelig Williams’s case is being covered as part of Crime Online’s “Finding the Lost: Black and Missing” series, which will feature a missing Black person every day in February. The full series can be read here.
