New York police said a suicide note was discovered the morning Food Network star Anne Burrell was found dead in her home last year.
Anne Burrell, 55, was found deceased by her husband at their Brooklyn residence on June 17. Not only was Burrell’s death classified as a suicide, but New York police said an investigator located a “suicidal note” in the primary bedroom after her death, according to People.
Police claimed that the investigator also discovered “suicidal” journal entries in the same room.
A police report detailed how Burrell’s husband noticed the bed was made in their room, which was uncommon. He subsequently found Burrell lifeless on the bathroom floor, surrounded by a bunch of over-the-counter pills.
According to People, Burrell’s husband told cops that she never tried to kill herself in the past and she never spoke about doing so. The night before she was found dead, Burrell reportedly performed improv for the first time at a venue in Brooklyn.
In July, the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Burrell’s death a suicide, listing her cause of death as “acute intoxication” due to the effects of alcohol, amphetamine, and antihistamines.
