Kentucky police have arrested a Lyft driver who sexually assaulted a passenger earlier this month.
On February 4, Yordan Diaz Vera, 34, picked up a passenger at her home in Louisville. Instead of taking her to her destination, Diaz Vera got a gun, locked the doors, and sodomized her in the backseat, according to WLKY.
After the reported assault, Diaz Vera took the victim to the doctor, which was her TK . The woman called police and provided them with a description, leading to Diaz Vera’s arrest the following day.
The victim’s attorney, Susan Collins, told WDRB that the February 4 assault lasted several minutes and occurred in broad daylight. She also claimed Diaz Vera forced her client to perform a sex act at gunpoint.
“She ran out of the car and into the office screaming for help,” the lawyer said.
Diaz Vera, who was apprehended in a Kroger’s parking lot, was charged with first-degree sodomy, menacing, and kidnapping. Collins said he is in the country on the work visa, which explains why he is being held on a federal immigrations detainer, or an immigration hold request, according to WLKY.
Lyft said in a statement that they removed Diaz Vera as a driver and are cooperating with the ongoing criminal investigation.
