An Oklahoma man was arrested this week after his 70-year-old mother was found dead in her Del City home on Wednesday.
KOCO reported that the woman appeared to have been for several days when she was found after her son, who had been her caretaker for almost a decade, called 911.
He reportedly told police that he checked on his mother daily and last spoke with her on Saturday. When he checked on Sunday, he said, she was breathing. He also said he checked in on Monday and “believed she was sleeping.”
Police said the bedroom floor in the room where the victim was found “was covered with approximately two feet of trash, clothing, and miscellaneous items, leaving no clear walkway to the bed in the center of the room.”
Investigators also found several insufficient fund statements in the victim’s name and a denial of claim from the Social Security Administration addressed to the suspect.
No further information was released, including the names of the victim and suspect, who was charged with second degree murder and caretaker abuse.
