‘They’ll Never Find the Body’: Mom Received Threatening Messages Before 2020 Disappearance

Indiana police are searching for a woman who was last seen in 2020.

Dawnita Wilkerson, 44, was last seen getting into an SUV with two men at an Evansville motel. Her phone was cut off the following day, and data suggests the phone crossed the Illinois border before losing signal.

Last year, Evansville police conducted a search in Pulaski County, Illinois. Police confirmed to WFIE that the search was related to Wilkerson, but they said nothing was found.

Before her disappearance, Wilkerson reportedly called a friend and told her she was with two men. Family and friends had revealed to the Courier & Press that two men were sending Wilkerson threatening messages days before she went missing.

“I’ll kill you and they’ll never find the body,” one alleged message reads.

The FBI said Wilkerson has several medical conditions, and she vanished without her required medications.

Wilkerson was described as standing 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds, and having black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts should call Evansville police at 812-436-7979 or 812-435-6194.

Wilkerson’s case is being covered as part of CrimeOnline’s “Finding the Lost: Black and Missing” series, which will feature a missing Black person every day in February. The full series can be read here.
