A Decade Later, Tyarra Williams Remains Missing After Saying She’d Be Home Soon

Last month marked 10 years since a North Carolina woman vanished and never returned.

Tyarra Williams, 19, was last seen leaving her Greensboro apartment to go to a friend’s home in the complex. Williams’ mother said she was supposed to come home, but she never returned.

According to the News & Record, Williams said she would be gone for an hour. She was reported missing the following day.

Police have not ruled out foul play in Williams’ 2016 disappearance, noting she had signed up for college classes before she vanished.

“We started calling, and her phone was going straight to voicemail, which was completely unusual for her,” Williams’ mother told WXLV in 2022. “She never turned off her phone or allowed it to go dead.”

Williams was described as standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds, and having brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt, a black North Face jacket, dark blue Levi’s jeans, white Jordans with blue and green trim, and a royal blue knit cap.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call the Greensboro Police Department at 336-373-2222.

Williams’ case is being covered as part of CrimeOnline’s “Finding the Lost: Black and Missing” series, which will feature a missing Black person every day in February. The full series can be read here.
