Lawyer Repeatedly Laced Husband’s Food With Fentanyl

An Alabama woman was indicted last month for allegedly trying to kill her husband by lacing his food with fentanyl.

According to WBRC, Sara Baker, 75, poisoned her husband’s food or drink on three instances in September 2025. Baker, who worked as an attorney in Cullman County, was arrested in November 2025.

Cullman police said Baker conspired with at least one other person to poison her husband. Prosecutors believe Baker procured the fentanyl from someone on the three dates she laced her husband’s food, in addition to once in November 2025, WTTO reported.

A 39-year-old woman, identified as a witness in Baker’s criminal case, was one of her clients. The woman was charged in August with destroying evidence for swallowing fentanyl in a case Baker was representing her in.

Baker was also previously a lawyer for the District Attorney’s Office. The Alabama Bar Association suspended her a month after her arrest.

Baker was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempt to commit murder, second-degree domestic violence, second-degree elder abuse, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, and solicitation to commit a controlled substance crime. Her bail was set at $400,000.
