Ohio Woman Stabbed 17 Times, Husband Claims Suicide

An Ohio woman was found stabbed 17 times in her house last October, and her husband claims it was suicide.

But Kyle Long, 35, has now been charged with Rachel Long’s murder, WBNS reports. He was arraigned Friday morning in Madison County Municipal Court and given a $1.5 million bond.

His attorney, Sam Shamansky, denied his clients guilt in a melodramatic statement.

“It is a horribly tragic event in which he bears no responsibility, only sorrow,” Shamansky said.

Kyle Long called 911 twice on the night his wife died, hanging up the first time and then calling back four minutes later to say that he his wife had stabbed herself multiple times while he was in another room.

He told arriving deputies that Rachel Long wanted a “separation from marriage.”

But the criminal complaint filed in the case notes Long’s conflicting statements to investigators as well as other inconsistencies.

An autopsy report said that the mother of two suffered at least 17 stab wounds, including “defensive-type wounds” on both of her hands. The wounds conflicted with her husband’s statement that she only had the knife in her right hand.

The friend who was texting with Rachel Long prior to her death said that she never mentioned being suicidal or even angry as they discussed their clothing choices for the upcoming concert.

And when detectives interviewed Kyle Long for a second time, the document says, his answers conflicted with what he said during the first interview.

Long was arrested on Monday after a four-month investigation, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said.
