Police in Pearland, Texas, announced Wednesday afternoon that a 7-year-old girl who vanished earlier in the day was found dead in a retention pond near her home.
“At approximately 2:45 P.M. with the assistance of the Houston Dive Team, Skylar was recovered from the retention pond near her house and confirmed deceased at the scene,” they wrote.

An AMBER Alert was issued for a 7-year-old Texas girl who vanished on Wednesday.
KHOU reported that Skylar Hopson was last seen in Pearland. Though details regarding Hopson’s disappearance are scarce, authorities said she is autistic and non-verbal.
“In reference to the Amber Alert, there is no indication or evidence at this time that she has been abducted. It was issued due to her being a Missing Non-Verbal Autistic Child,” Pearland police explained.
Hopson was described as standing 3 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 77 pounds, and having black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a tie-dye dress.
