A Las Vegas woman was shot to death during a 911 call on Tuesday.
A newly released arrest report for Jorge Antonio Garcia, 33, says that officers were dispatched to a condo complex at about 3:30 p.m. after the woman called and said her ex-boyfriend was supposed to pick up his things from the condo but had refused, KSNV reports.
The caller described Garcia, saying he was wearing a neon green or yellow work T-shirt and jeans and may have been under the influence of drugs, KVVU said. She also said he was armed what she thought was a pellet gun, which he pointed at her, threatening to shoot.
The call captured a male voice in the background of the call and the woman screaming. The call captured the sounds of a struggle and what sounded like gunshots.
Police found the front door locked when they arrived but could see a woman on the floor through a window. They forced entry into the home and found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds. The collected three 9mm cartridge cases from the master bedroom. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
A neighbor told police that the woman had three children who were not present. That same neighbor provided surveillance video showing a man who matched Garcia’s description approaching the apartment several times that day. Security video from the condo complex showed Garcia driving away.
Investigators ultimately found Garcia in a travel trailer in a neighborhood in southwest Las Vegas and took him into custody, according to KSNV.
He reportedly admitted shooting the woman, saying she was “negative” and “aggressive” and lunged at him and pushed him. He also admitted going to the apartment several times that day because he suspected she was with another man. He denied stalking her but said he often showed up unannaounced to see what she was doing.
Garcia claimed the woman had knives in her home but admitted she wasn’t armed when he shot her, according to KVVU.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
The killer appeared in court on Wednesday and was denied bond. He is due in court again on Monday.
