Florida Man Found in ‘Pool of Blood’ After Mom Heard Him Fall While on Phone

Investigators in Florida are looking into the “violent death” of a 56-year-old man who was found outside his Bartow apartment in a “pool of blood.”

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that Jeffrey Blevins was on the phone with his mother shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday “when all of a sudden his mother hears him fall to the ground.” When he didn’t respond further, she hung up and called her daugther, who also lives in the apartment complex, telling her “go find Jeff, it sounds like he’s fallen.”

Blevins’ sister responded and found her brother lying in a pool of blood and calls 911.

First responders rushed him to Bartow Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Bartow Police Chief Stephen Walker said he requested assistance in the investigation from the sheriff’s office.

Judd said that Blevins had a domestic violence arrest 30 years earlier and since then, only a driving with a suspended license charges.

The sheriff said the investigation was in its early stages, and more information would be provided when it becomes available.
