DEVELOPING: Severed head found in refrigerator amid missing person investigation [Sources]

UPDATE 4/28/20: Police find severed head in refrigerator amid missing person investigation: Reports

Original coverage:

Police in California who were investigating a missing person case reportedly discovered a severed head in a refrigerator on Sunday.

Multiple sources told KTVU that officers made the grisly discovery while executing a search warrant at an apartment in San Francisco.

The sources also claimed that Sunday’s search was related to an ongoing missing person investigation which started after carjacking suspect Justin Silvernale, 35, stabbed an off-duty San Francisco police officer on April 12. Silvernale led police on a high-speed chase which ended with his shooting death when he approached an officer while wielding a knife, according to KTVU.

It’s not immediately known who was reported missing and how the missing person investigation led police to the San Francisco apartment. Though it’s not completely clear how the fatal carjacking is tied to the missing person report, sources told KTVU the victim is associated with Silvernale.

San Francisco police spokesperson Sergeant Michael Andraychak confirmed to the news station that “a body” was discovered at the home.
