Missing AMBER Alert boy’s dad says mother may be hiding with ‘anti-government’ extremist group, son in imminent danger

UPDATE: AMBER Alert boy found safe in Oregon, mother & accomplice arrested

Original Story

A Utah father is desperately searching for his 6-year-old after his mother allegedly abducted the boy during a supervised visit.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Terran Alexander Butler and his mother, 43-year-old Emily Jolley, disappeared from Salt Lake City on Saturday. According to police, Jolley abducted her son during a supervised visit and could be headed to Washington.

Investigators are searching for Jolley’s last known car, a blue 2008 Toyota Prius with Utah license plate E847GT.

According to CBS 2, Terran’s father, Timothy Butler, said this the boy’s mother is associated with a group who consider themselves sovereign citizens.

“Basically, it’s a group of individuals the FBI has considered a domestic terrorist group,” Butler said.

Butler added that he was never married to Jolley, and went through years of custody battles. The court ultimately gave him full custody of their son after Jolley allegedly made up a false story that Butler abused the boy. She’s also accused of coaching Terran on what to say to police.

The father is worried that his son is with a group of “dangerous individuals” and at risk of emotional abuse.

“We do believe Terran to be in imminent danger, not necessarily of any track history of Emily being a physically abusive person, but obviously a long history of emotional abuse that she has subjected Terran to. Mental instability, and a group of dangerous individuals that she has chosen to associate herself with.”

Both Butler and his girlfriend, Amelia Meneses, told CBS 2 that they think Jolley is possibly “living off the grid” and may have been planning the abduction for months in advance.

“Very possible that she’s off the grid somewhere, so I think camping or hiking. She’s talked about going off-grid before. So that’s a possibility, but we do believe there is a group of people that she is with, that are helping her,” Meneses said.

Earlier this week, Jolley’s mother, Larain Latter Jolley, who was assigned to supervise visits between her daughter and grandson, was arrested for felony suspicion of obstruction of justice after allegedly allowing her daughter to leave with Terran.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and confiscated Larain’s cellphone, which had messages between Emily Jolley, Larain, and someone named Stephanie Barber.

According to police, Larain was told to tell police that her daughter had moved out days ago and “not to talk in the group text on the thing we talked about on the group text.”

Larain is not cooperating with police and so far, no leads have panned out. Officials are asking the public to be on the lookout for Terran and his mother.
