Divers find body while searching for 11-year-old boy missing more than 2 months

The medical examiner’s office has not determined whether the victim is missing Aiden Blanchard.

Police divers searching for an 11-year-old boy who has been missing since February found a body in the Connecticut River Wednesday morning.

Chicopee, Massachusetts, Police public information officer Danusia Liszka told MassLive that officials have not yet identified the body found just after 11 a.m.

Aiden Blanchard, a 6th grader at Edward J. Bellamy Middle School, disappeared on February 5 after heading out for a walk from his home, as CrimeOnline previously reportered. He was last seen walking toward toward the Medina Street Boat Ramp in the Willimansett section of the city.

Investigators launched an intense search, but the search was hampered for much of February because of extreme cold and storms.

Police have said they do not suspect foul play.

Divers brought the body to the Hampden County Medical Examiner’s Office, where officials are working to identify the victim, Chicopee police said.

This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide more information as it becomes available.<
