‘You Raped Me!’: Florida Man Learns Fate After Heated Trial for Kidnap, Rape, Attempted Murder of Wife

A Florida man’s reign of terror against his former wife appears to have come to an end after he was convicted Friday night of attempted murder and other charges for brutally kidnapping and raping the woman, who is the mother of their five children, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Earlier this week, Trevor Summers, 45, had made one last attempt to torment his ex when he acted as his own lawyer and questioned her at trial.

The case stems from March 11, 2017, when Summers broke into the victim’s home, ambushed her and then raped her. The two had been separated and were in the process of getting a divorce.

Over the course of the following two days, Summers abused the woman repeatedly. He used a pillow to smother her until she was knocked out and then tried to strangle her using a rope.

“He used the Christmas lights to tie me to the bed rails, at one time being hog-tied,” the victim testified, according to FOX 13. “The pain was so incredible.”

During trial, Summers asked the victim if he ever forced her to have sex.

“You broke into my home in the middle of the night when I was sleeping, attacked me, and tied me up!” the victim testified, the Daily Mail reports.

She added: “Prior to having sex, you did push me, you did hold me down, you did tie me up, you did attack me, and you did break into my home when I was sleeping! You raped me!”

“So you’re calling it rape?” Summers responded, the Daily Mail reports.

The victim replied, “It is. That is the definition of rape to come into someone’s home and attack them and tie them up and then have sex with them! That is the definition of rape.”

Summers hogtied the victim, forced her into a vehicle, and then drove her around multiple counties. At one point they stopped at a Walgreens and the victim tried to escape, but Summer was able to force her back into the car. He then cut her wrists.

Fortunately, a store employee saw what happened and alerted authorities.

At some point, Summers began strangling the victim with a rope but she managed to escape, even though her hands were tried.

When Summers saw a police car approaching, he began cutting his throat, telling the victim, “This is what love is. I’m laying my life down for you. You don’t deserve this.”

Officers then surrounded the vehicle and rescued her.

“And at this point, law enforcement surrounded the vehicle. My door opened. I was grabbed and taken out,” the victim testified, according to the Daily Mail.

On Friday morning, Summers argued that he should be acquitted. Among the reasons he gave was that “sex doesn’t mean that much” to the victim, the Daily Mail reports.

Jurors on Friday evening convicted the serial abuser on 11 charges that include attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping and sexual battery.

Summers is scheduled to be sentenced October 3.
