Sex Crime Charges Dropped Against Lori Vallow Daybell’s Son

Sex crime charges against accused child killer Lori Vallow Daybell’s oldest son have been dropped with prejudice, meaning they could be refiled at a future date.

Colby Ryan, Vallow Daybell’s only surviving child, was arrested on September 5 on two counts of domestic violence/sexual assault, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

Maricopa Chief of Staff Communications Director Jennifer Liewer said Friday afternoon that the sheriff’s office had filed to dismiss the charges, KTVB reported.

Liewer did not provide further details and said the case is still “a matter pending before the office.”

According to court documents, the incident took place on August 31 when Ryan went to the victim’s home, where the pair watched television. Although they engaged in “romantic contact,” the victim declined to go further, telling Ryan to stop several times, but he didn’t.

The court documents say that Ryan admitted to the incident in a post-Miranda interview.

Colby Ryan is Lori Vallow’s first child. She and fifth husband Chad Daybell are accused of killing Vallow’s other two children, Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow — whose bodies were found buried on property owned by Daybell — as well as Daybell’s first wife, Tammy Daybell, as CrimeOnline has reported. Additionally, Vallow is charged with conspiracy in the death of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow. Shortly before Tylee and JJ disappeared, Tammy Daybell mysterious died, and she married Chad Daybell.

Daybell and Vallow Daybell are scheduled to go on trial in January.
