Dancer in ‘Dirty Dancing’ Remake Says Harvey Weinstein Masturbated on Her

A dancer in 2004’s “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights” testified this week that disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein masturbated on her during the filming of the “reimagining” of 1987 blockbuster “Dirty Dancing.”

The dancer, identified as Ashley M., is not one of the five Jane Does accusing Weinstein of rape and sexual assault in Los Angeles, but California law allows her testimony to “prior bad acts” committed by the defendant.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Weinstein is serving a 23-year sentence in New York after he was convicted there of sexual assault and rape. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.

Ashley M., who was 22 and a trained ballerina when chosen to appear in the movie being filmed in Puerto Rico, told the Los Angeles court that Weinstein first singled her out during a rehearsal and propositioned her for “a naked massage,” The New York Post reported.

“He said, ‘Look at Gwyneth Paltrow and what it did for her career,’” she said.

After an interruption for a dinner break, Ashley M. said she told a choreographer and producer, who did nothing. And after dinner, Weinstein and his assistant Bonnie Hung took her to a hotel.

“I was worried but yet I felt comforted that Bonnie was there … but I was wondering what was going on,” she said.

Weinstein led her into a private room, and Hung shut the door behind them. Weinstein shoved her onto the bed and undressed her.

“He said, ‘It’s not like we’re having sex … it’s naked cuddling,’” Ashley M. said. “I was like really scared. I didn’t know what to do. I said stop. I just remember in my head saying, ‘What do I do?’ I knew he was just really big and Bonnie most likely was out there. I didn’t know what to do.”

“He ejaculated on me … on my breasts and some got on my face.”

When Weinstein finished, Ashley M. testified, she got dressed and found Hung waiting outside the door. The three returned to the set.

The star of “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights,” British actress Romola Garai, said in a 2017 interview that she auditioned for the part in Weinstein’s hotel room while he was wearing nothing but a robe.

“Like every other woman in the industry, I’ve had an ‘audition’ with Harvey Weinstein, where I’d actually already had the audition but you had to be personally approved by him,” Garai told the Guardian. “So I had to go to his hotel room in the Savoy, and he answered the door in his bathrobe. I was only 18. I felt violated by it, it has stayed very clearly in my memory.”

“The transaction was just that I was there,” said Garai, who said the two had a brief conversation about film. “The point was that he could get a young woman to do that, that I didn’t have a choice, that it was humiliating for me and that he had the power. It was an abuse of power.”
