Georgia Woman Charged With Murder of Florida Couple at Senior Living Community

A Georgia woman has been arrested in connection with the murders of a Florida couple last week at a senior living community in Mount Dora.

Vickie Williams, 50, has been extradited back to Florida. She was initially charged with the theft of a vehicle belonging to Darryl and Sharon Getman, who were found dead in their home at Waterman Villages last Sunday afternoon, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

Earlier this week, Mount Dora Interim Police Chief Mike Gibson said that a person of interest in the murders had been located out of state driving the Detmans’ Kia Soul.

Williams appeared before a Lake County judge on Saturday, and two additional charges of first degree murder were added, WOFL reported. Judge Emily Curington appointed a public defender for Williams and ordered her held without bond.

The Getmans children, Anthony and Brittany Getman, said in a statement that their parents had lived in Mount Dora for more than 20 years, Spectrum News 13 reported.

“They were enjoying their golden years staying active and spending time with their many friends,” they said.

Williams is due back in court on January 30.
