SPOILED BRAT PUSHES VOICE COACH, 87, TO HER DEATH ON BUSY STREET: DELAY TACTICS?

A psychological evaluation of the Long Island socialite accused of fatally shoving a beloved voice coach to the ground in Manhattan is delaying a possible plea deal in the case.

Lauren Pazienza, 26, has twice rejected a plea deal in the death of 87-year-old Barbara Gustern in March 2022, CrimeOnline has reported, and the new psych assessment won’t be ready for another three weeks, prosecutors said in court this week, according to Newsday.

Prosecutors say Pazienza, daughter of cesspool magnate Dan Pazienza, approached Gustern from behind, called her a “b****,” and shoved her. Gustern struck her head but gave a friend an account of the attack before lapsing into a coma and dying five days later.

Pazienza, meanwhile, allegedly watched from a hidden location as an ambulance carried Gustern away and then fled to her parents Long Island home and hid until surveillance images identified her as a suspect.

Her mother paid her $500,000 bail after she turned herself in, but the bail was later revoked.

Pazienza has pleaded not guilty to first and second degree manslaughter and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted. Prosecutors have offered a 15-year prison term for a guilt plea on the first degree manslaughter charge, but Pazienza has decline.

Gustern was well-known as the vocal coach for “Blondie” singer Debbie Harry, “Bikini Kill” lead Kathleen Hanna, and several Broadway shows.

Pazienza and her fiance were at nearby Chelsea Park on March 10, celebrating their upcoming wedding. Pazienza reportedly became irate when a park employee told them the park was closing and they’d have to leave. Prosecutors say she cursed at the employee, threw her food at her fiance, and stormed off, encountering Gustern in front of her apartment just a block away.

She is due back in court on Thursday.
