Update: Police Seek Public Assistance as Search for Missing 7-year-old Enters Second Day

The search continues for a 7-year-old Massachusetts girl who vanished from her Lowell neighborhood on Sunday and police are now asking the public assistance.

Lowell police said Anna was last seen Sunday, riding her bike between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the driveway of her Geana Lane home in the East Merrimack Street area of the Belvidere section of Lowell. She was wearing black shorts, a white vest, and a purple hair tie, according to Lowell Police, who said she could be riding her bicycle.

On Sunday, officers conducted door-to-door searches for any doorbell camera video. They also employed drones, police dogs, ATVs, and state police aircraft. The nearby Merrimack River was also being searched by multiple fire department boats and a dive team.

Lowell police are urging residents of both Lowell and Tewksbury, around the areas of East Merrimack Street and River Road, to search around their properties. They specifically emphasized checking hidden locations such as sheds, vehicles, boats, and pools.

The Middlesex District Attorney also asked residents living in the Belvedere section of Lowell to actively search for the child.

“We are asking people to go outside, to do a real search of their backyards, of playhouses, under wood piles, in a shed they may have, any place that a 4’7”, 70 pound, seven-year-old little girl could hiding,” Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said.

NBC Boston reports that neighbors and family friends are becoming increasingly concerned as police continue to search for Anna.

“They are waiting on a miracle,” family friend Beatrice Njuguna said. “We are all praying and asking God to make a miracle happen, cause we’ve gone through this so many times in this area, yeah, but we are praying that this ends up well.”

Anna is non-verbal and autistic. Anyone with information on Anna’s whereabouts is urged to contact Lowell police at 978-937-3200 or dial 911.
