Victims Identified in Georgia Shooting; Gunman Shot Dead by Police

The man accused of killing four people in a suburban Atlanta neighborhood Saturday morning was killed during a shootout with police Sunday afternoon.

“The monster is dead,” said Henry County Sheriff Reginald B. Scandrett during a press conference on Sunday.

Law enforcement located Andre Longmore at about 1:30 p.m., according to WANF. He tried to flee but was shot down by deputies.

Scandrett said a Henry County deputy and a Clayton County police officer were wounded in the incident. They’re names have not been released, but they are expected to survive.

Officials released the names of Saturday’s victims: Scott Leavitt, 67; Shirley Leavitt, 66; Steve Blizzard, 65; and Ronald Jeffers, 66.

Scandrett said the vehicle Longmore escaped in was stolen from Blizzard.

Gunfire erupted just before 11 a.m. Saturday in the Dogwood Lakes subdivision of Hampton, Georgia. Police say the victims were killed at four different crime scenes in close proximity to one another, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

Officials said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was handling the investigation and would provide more information as it becomes available.
