Missing: Texas Wife Disappears After ‘Unusual’ Hug

A Texas husband is asking for the public’s help to find his missing wife, whom he hasn’t heard from or seen for days, KHOU-TV reports.

Carl Grossman told the television station that his wife, 50-year-old Chantale Grossman, said goodbye to him on Thursday morning at their home in Cypress, northwest of Houston. At the time, he sensed that something was amiss.

“The hug was unusual, longer, tighter,” Carl told KHOU-TV. “I said there’s something wrong. And she shrugged her shoulders. And I said, you know, when you do this, I think that other stuff is going to happen.”

At around 8:15 a.m., Chantale allegedly left her work because she wanted to get coffee, but she never returned. He texted her but could see that the messages were not going through, possibly because her phone was off. He went to Starbucks, where she said she had planned to get coffee, and then to Kleb Woods Nature Preserve Park in nearby Tomball. That’s where he spotted her truck.

Carl said Chantale would visit the park often. It is a place she would come and walk with her son, who died a couple of years ago from taking fentanyl-laced drugs.

In his view, Carl said his wife has not been the same since her son’s death.

“Fentanyl kills. It kills the users, and oftentimes it kills the family,” Carl told KHOU-TV. “I don’t know where she is, but I know that the grief was such that nobody could break through to it.”

Police and a K9 unit were at the park on Friday searching for Chantale. Authorities closed the park for several hours while searching. No details have been released about what, if anything, was found.

Carl said he just wants Chantale to be safe.

“Mostly I want to know that she’s okay,” the husband told KHOU-TV.

Chantale was last seen wearing gray or blue scrubs. To report information about her or her location, call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at 713-221-6000.
