Missing Georgia Girl Found in Puerto Rico; Mother Arrested

A missing Georgia girl believed to have been taken by her non-custodial mother has been found in Puerto Rico and returned to her father.

Investigators said they believed Wendy Salter may have taken her 7-year-old daughter to the Caribbean island. Salter has been taken into custody and charged with interstate interference with child custody.

Salter and her daughter were reported missing on Tuesday in Toombs County, Georgia, as CrimeOnline reported. By afternoon, the FBI had been called in and authorities said they suspected they had gone out of the country.

WJCL reported that the pair were found at a retail store at about noon.

Salter is now awaiting extradition. She faces five years in prison if convicted on the charge.
