Former Elite Swim Coach GUILTY of Sexually Abusing Swimmers on His Team

A former elite swim coach has been convicted of molesting girls on his Colorado swim team between 1997 and 2002.

Jon Beber was found guilty of sexually assaulting three swimmers on the Boulder Swimming team during that time, before he quit the team and left Colorado, the 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said.

After that, Beber coached swim teams in Albany, New York, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia, where he was arrested in 2022 after the three victims reported the abuse in Colorado, as CrimeOnline reported.

“This defendant sexually abused swimmers whom he coached,” District Attorney Michael Dougherty said. “Despite the passage of time, and because of the courage and strength of the victims, the defendant is being held responsible for the abuse and trauma he inflicted upon them. Our office was honored to fight for justice for these victims.”

Beber was out on bond pending his trial, and the bond was immediately revoked. Sentencing is set for July 19.
