Florida Woman Charged With Suffocating 4-Year-Old Son, Found by Teen Daughter

A 43-year-old Florida woman has been arrested for the death of her 4-year-old son.

Diana Cullom has been charged with first degree murder in the case, which began when a 16-year-old girl came home from school and found her mother holding the dead boy in a bed, BayNews9 reported. She saw blood throughout the house and called 911.

Initially, because of the blood, it was thought that the boy had been stabbed to death, but the medical examiner determined he had no stab wound and had been suffocated. The blood apparently came from self-inflicted stab wounds on Cullom, who was taken to Bayfront Hospital for treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries.

The children’s father was not at home, and detectives called him to return.

Police said a note was found but did not describe its contents.

WTVT identified the 4-year-old boy as Finley Collum. Diana Cullom was said to be in stable condition Tuesday evening, and she was booked into jail on the murder charge early Wednesday morning, jail records show.

She is due in court on Thursday, WTSP said.’
