Body cam footage reportedly shows the moments a driver allegedly fled from and kicked an officer in the groin—all to avoid an $80 parking ticket for a broken tail light
– KOCO: On July 16, Debra Hamil, 65, refused to sign a ticket, claiming she shouldn’t have to pay for something that’s “fixable”
– The officer noted that the tail light’s been broken for six months before she not only refused to sign the ticket but ignored the officer’s commands to exit her car
– Hamil allegedly led the officer on a brief pursuit after he tells her she’s under arrest
– Hamil’s seen stopping and telling the officer “you better leave me” before he drags her out her car and tases her
– “Do you realize you just got yourself in a whole lot more trouble?” the officer tells the handcuffed woman
– Hamil was charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest; she was ultimately released on $10,000 bond
A Michigan man who assaulted a Little Caesars employee over pizza toppings earlier this month was sentenced to 20 days in jail
– WXYZ: Livonia police said Joseph Thorpe 38, was angry over Italian seasoning on his pizza (instead of parmesan), and had called the restaurant to complain
– He arrived at the restaurant even more irate after employees told him he could get a refund
– The victim said she had a co-worker call police after Thorpe “threw his pizza on the counter [and] told me he was going to beat everyone’s butt in the store”
– Moments later, he’s seen reaching across the counter and smacking the clerk
– Though Thorpe fled the scene in a car that wasn’t registered to him, authorities tracked him down and charged him with assault and battery
Authorities in New York are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect allegedly behind two sex attacks Monday evening in Brooklyn.
– WNBC: Both women managed to fight off the suspect, who’s seen in surveillance footage
– In the first attack on 12th Street and Eighth Avenue, the suspect allegedly pulled the woman’s pants down before being scared off
– Minutes later, at Prospect Park West, he reportedly pushed a woman against a car and tried to sexually assault her
– The suspect’s described as being Hispanic, weighing roughly 160 pounds, 5’8″ tall, and has dreadlocks

– Accused murderer and kidnapper Jake Patterson has a court appearance scheduled for 1 p.m. EST at the in Barron County court in Wisconsin.
– Patterson previously stated he planned to guilty to the charges against him.
– A sentencing date will be scheduled if Patterson pleads guilty.
– Patterson is charged with homicide, kidnapping, and burglary.
The trial for Bo Dukes, a man accused of helping to conceal teacher Tara Grinstead’s body, is underway continues at Wilcox County Superior Court in Georgia.
Dukes is one of two men accused of taking part in Grinstead’s death and disappearance. In 2017, he was indicted on charges of concealing a death, tampering with evidence, and hindering apprehension of a criminal.
Grinstead was last seen in 2005, in Oncilla, Georgia, leaving a party. The former beauty queen’s disappearance remained cold for over a decade until a 2017 tip led authorities to Dukes. Ryan Duke, a friend of Dukes at the time, was also arrested, and confessed to killing Grinstead and hiding her body. Duke later said he falsely confessed so he could go to jail in order to avoid retaliation from Dukes.
– Cedric Marks, 44, allegedly killed his former girlfriend, Jenna Scott and her friend, Michael Swearington.
– Both victims were found deceased in shallow graves last month, in a rural area in Oklahoma.
– During a prisoner transport van ride carrying nine other suspects and two guards, Marks escaped when the driver made a stop at a McDonald’s near Houston, Texas.
– Marks was shackled inside the van. Police are trying to figure out how he broke free.
– Police found the suspect hiding in a trash can in the backyard of a home in Conroe, Texas.
– Marks’ former girlfriend, April Pease, has been missing since 2009. He’s now a suspect in her possible murder.
– Marks was first captured in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on another warrant for burglary, which occurred months before the two victims were found dead.
The Wisconsin man accused of kidnapping 13-year-old Jayme Closs and killing her parents appears live in the Barron County Court at 3:30 p.m. CST. Jake Patterson, 21, of Gordon, is facing charges of murder and kidnapping.
